God is at work in and through the lives of our youth. Canadian Baptist youth from across the country are growing in their faith and are being good news in their schools, neighbourhoods, and local churches. They are serving others in their ordinary daily lives and through concentrated efforts like Serve, Tidal Impact and international partnerships with CBM . They are encouraging each other and learning more about Jesus in local youth groups and by attending large regional events like Avalanche, Blizzard, and Springforth. These youth are incredible!
At the same time, they are a generation in need of our prayer. The world in which they live presents them with both significant opportunities and challenges to faith. As Canadian Baptist’s let’s join together and pray for youth.
The Canadian Baptist Youth Team is a gathering of denominational leaders from CBWC, CBOQ, CABC & CBM with a purpose to advocate and make possible national and global synergies in the areas of youth, family and young adult ministry. One way we hope to do this is through having a National Day of Prayer for Youth
This initiative is to bring together Canadian Baptists from across the county, regardless of whether they have youth or not attending their church, to set aside June 12, 2016 as a National Day of Prayer for Youth. We are inviting all Canadian Baptist churches to take part by praying for the youth of your congregation, community, across Canada and around the world.
Our hope is that this will become an annual day of prayer that will serve as a catalyst in opening opportunities for the church to holistically invest in the lives of the next generation
To ensure this endeavour has maximum impact, the Canadian Baptist Youth & Family Team has compiled some resources for you to use as you plan for this exciting initiative:
1. Scripture and Prayer Ideas. Engage your congregation during worship services.
2. Youth activities & A Lesson Plan. Spark discussion about effectively engaging today’s youth culture and provide some hands-on activities to engage youth in Praying for their peers locally and globally. We also encourage you to use this material to enhance your worship service on June 12, 2016.
3. Prayer guide. Use this in your worship service and/or during your youth group event. Ministry leaders across the country and CBM field staff around the world have shared specific needs they see among youth in their regions.
We trust that this National Day of Prayer for Youth along with the resources provided will be helpful for our churches and pray that they will spark more creative ideas as they are discussed and used in different churches.
Thank you for reviewing these materials and for considering how you will take part in the National day of Prayer for Youth.
